Eighth National Director of OA

Clyde Mayer is appointed the 8th National Director of the OA.

During G. Allen Mossman’s tenure as the OA’s lead professional, the position’s name was changed from National Executive Secretary to Director of the Order of the Arrow. Under Mossman the position increased in responsibility and the new title was indicative of these responsibilities. Mossman retired in 1993, after serving for eight years.

6th National Executive Secretary

On May 16, 1974 National Executive Secretary David “Dave” Boshea was promoted to National Field Representative, East Central Region. Boshea was a tireless enthusiastic popular National Secretary for the OA. Due to financial restraints affecting the BSA the new Secretary did not take over until October 1, 1974.

First OA National Secretary

As soon as the OA was integrated into the BSA Wes Klusmann, BSA Director of Camping, needed to select the first National Secretary. This was not a high level assignment although it would be at BSA national headquarters. This job would have a huge clerical component. The National Secretary would be responsible for, among other duties, local lodge charter renewals, theNational Bulletin, maintaining Vigil Honor lists and coordinating supplies for local lodges.
